Japan (cm) (cm) to European (EU) (EU) Conversion
Japan (cm)
The Japanese shoe sizing system is the most scientifically transparent of all major conventions: sizes are expressed directly in centimetres of foot length, measured from heel to the tip of the longest toe, rounded to the nearest 0.5 cm. A person with a 26 cm foot wears JP 26, regardless of gender. The system also incorporates a width designation (A through F and beyond, with E and EE being most common) that is more systematically defined than in Western systems. This direct foot-length correspondence makes Japanese sizing the easiest to apply from a bare foot measurement.
European (EU)
The European shoe sizing system is based on the Paris Point — a unit equal to two-thirds of a centimetre (6.67 mm). EU sizes are calculated from the last length (the internal shoe length) in Paris Points, typically ranging from 35 to 48 for adults. Unlike US and UK systems, EU sizing uses a single scale for both men and women, eliminating gender-offset confusion. A foot measuring 26 cm corresponds to approximately EU 40, though variation between manufacturers can shift the fit by half a size.
